Hello! My name is Dawn and I am a thirty something wife, mother, co-worker and friend. I started this blog in 2008 when I started my journey towards a healthier lifestyle and to lose the excess weight I put on over the years.
I did not grow up with a weight problem nor did I partake in sports in school. I like to be alone even though I had a lot of friends. I walked a lot and worked two jobs when I was in high school. When I was 17 I meet my daughters father and was pregnant 1 month to the date of my 18th birthday. When I got pregnant I was 97lbs and when I was 9 months pregnant I was a whopping 118lbs (I told you I walked a lot). I have birth to my daughter in 1997 and lost all the baby weight shortly after I had her.
My weight started to creep up in 2003 and it just got worse when I went from a warehouse job to an office desk job in 2005. My weight got up to 209lbs (that I know of) and I was unhappy, tired, lazy and angry all the time. Nothing could really make me happy. I did not want my husband to see me naked or touch me in any way. It was my low point and I know I had to fight to get past it. I also had to make multiple trips to the emergency room due to medical problems encountered because of my unhealthy lifestyle. Enough was enough! I decided to hire an online trainer in 2009 to help me do a risqué photo shoot for my husband later the same year for our 10 year anniversary. It was the perfect gift for him and myself. My changes did not happen overnight and It’s still not over and never will be. One thing I learned is that I will always be learning and growing mentally and physically.
I became certified as a personal trainer in 2009 more for my own knowledge than to help others at the time. I stepped away from my studies for awhile and tried to concentrate on personal home matters but I am working towards continuing my education to help others feel better about themselves and live healthier and longer lives. I want to show people that it can be done and you can look and feel amazing!
